Introduction

The study of soft matter is relevant to help understanding the basic mechanisms of life because the physical properties of biomolecules and their interaction with the cellular environment are suitably described by tools developed for soft matter systems such as polymers, amphiphilic membranes, and electrolytes. Conversely, biomolecules also provide ideal units to explore classical models in soft matter physics due to their unique properties and reproducibility.
The aim of Regional Bio-Soft Matter Days 2005 is to promote exchange of ideas among scientists (especially young scientists) in the field of bio-soft related physics in the Pacific region.
The size of the workshop will be about 60 participants including about 15 invited speakers. Other presentations of the workshops will be in the forms of posters. Poster presentation will be an important part of this workshop.
