III. Research Themes:

  • In the next couple of years, we plan to concentrate on particle phenomenology in three different models, namely the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model, little Higgs model with T-parity (LHT), and the gauged two-Higgs-doublet model (G2HDM). In particular, we will study lepton physics, Higgs physics, and dark sector physics, as well as possible interconnections among these three different topics in these models.

  • Lepton Physics
  • CW Chiang and CR Chen have been working on various models trying to address the long-standing puzzle of muon g-2. We will examine collider phenomenology and implications of such models. TC Yuan and his team will continue the efforts working on the G2HDM, promoting the idea of gauging the two Higgs doublets in the popular two Higgs doublet model (2HDM). We will study physical processes with charged lepton flavor violation in the model. We also like to focus the interplay between muon g-2, neutrino physics and dark matter. The possible consequence in cosmology will be explored as well, for example the leptogenesis.

  • Higgs Physics
  • Higgs phenomenology has been extensively studied in the general 2HDM, inert Higgs doublet model (IHDM), and GM. We will study charged Higgs physics in G2HDM, which is quite different from previous models. Its impact at the LHC will be explored. We will also do the same for the GM model. We will use available data to constrain such models with a Higgs extension.

  • Dark Sector Physics
  • Within G2HDM and its possible refinements or extensions, we will explore dark matter as well as possible dark photon phenomenology in the model. Other new models or effective theory of the dark sector will also be explored by various members of the group. With the NCTS support of this TG1, we expect to push both the local and international collaborations at a faster pace and stronger force. We believe our efforts will increase the visibility of NCTS to a higher level.
 

 

IV. Activities:

  • • Hold one joint workshop with ECP3 every year. 
  • • Hold one frontier workshop at NTU with Distinguish Center Scientist Xiao-Gang He.
  • • Support seminars at places like NTNU in order to encourage research activities there, if these places cannot support themselves otherwise. 
  • • Invite international visitors who are active in the topics of our interest to visit NCTS and interact with members in our group. 
  • • Support postdocs/students for international conferences. 
  • • NTNU will be hosting PPP 2019.
