III. Major Directions:


  Electron Transport:

Physics of Schottky and tunneling barrier due to charge transfer in interface.
Current-induced effects: current-induced forces, inelastic electron-phonon interactions (IETS, local heating & cooling), quantum noises, etc.
Novel device theory of electronic nano-devices: field-effect transistor, diode, switches, DNA-memristor, memory and logical device, etc.


  Thermal Transport:

Thermal currents carried by phonons and electrons, Seebeck coefficient, ZT, thermoelectric properties including mechanism of energy conversion between  electric and thermal currents, novel device thermoelectric nanodevice theory: e.g. nano-scale refrigerator, power generator and self-powered transistor.


  Spin-dependent Transport:

Spin-orbit effects, Kondo effects, Zeeman effects, exciton & polaron physics, spin-based quantum information. Spintronics & molecular spintronics: Magneto-resistance, spin-filter torque, field-like spin torque, field-like spin torque MRAM.
