    • Abstract:We study the lepton flavor violating process τ → μγ in the general two-Higgs doublet model, and reassess the possibility of its potential discovery at the upcoming Belle-II experiment. We separate out the various new physics contribution of the model to the decay in three different categories: BSM benchmark—depends on top Yukawa ρtt, h-benchmark—depends on h-H mixing angle cos γ, and 1-loop NP effect—depends on τ Yukawa ρττ . The Yukawa ρτμ, factored-out in B(τ → μγ), is crucially constrained by h → τμ, albeit modulated by cos γ. We show that under our working assumption, ρ32,33 ∼ O(λ3), while the h-benchmark and 1-loop effect scenarios fall below the sensitivity of Belle-II, the BSM-benchmark effect can easily be probed at Belle-II. We also show that the interference of BSM- and h-benchmark can play an important role in probing the phase of ρtt.
